At the Aesthetic Center of Richmond Dermatology, we assure that your ear piercing will be a positive experience for yourself or your child. We offer piercings to both the earlobe and ear cartilage. Professional ear piercing is offered for patients 5 years and older. All piercings are performed by trained medical providers, using sterile technique.
All medical piercings are performed in the office using sterile, single-use, hypoallergenic, 24K gold plated studs to promote proper healing. Upon request, our office offers topical numbing to further minimize discomfort during the procedure.
Before the procedure, your ears will be thoroughly cleansed. Next the sites to be pierced will be marked for assured symmetry and proper placement. Once the location is approved by the patient or guardian, your provider will proceed with the ear piercing.
Most patients are able to return to their normal daily activities immediately following their ear piercing. While mild discomfort can be normal, your piercings should be completely healed within 4 to 6 weeks.
Post-Piercing Care
You may change your studs after 4-6 weeks. We recommend replacing your earrings with a nickel free, hypoallergenic stud.

Dr. Terhune is incredibly kind, efficient, and listens to hear what your real concerns are… I’ve never had to wait more than 15 minutes for my appointment. She works quickly and efficiently but thoroughly. Her nurses are also kind and helpful.
