Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

Intense Pulsed Light technology utilizes specific wavelength ranges to target various chromophores in the skin. As a result, it effectively treats conditions including vascular lesions, pigmented lesions, and skin photoaging. The light penetrates the tissue and is absorbed by relevant chromophores. Then, it damages them. Afterward, the body’s natural processes then clear the lesion debris, giving the skin a more even and youthful appearance.

How is it performed?: Intense Pulsed Light treatments typically take 30 to 45 minutes to complete. Most patients experience mild discomfort during the treatment, similar to the feeling of being snapped with a rubber band. After the treatment is complete, a mild sunburn feeling may be felt for approximately 1 hour. On average patients require 1-5 treatments.
Recovery: Patients may experience mild redness, a sunburned feeling, sensitivity, slight swelling, darkening, and fragmentation of pigmented lesions. Most side effects resolve within a few days. However, recovery from pulsed light treatments can take up to two weeks.
